Benzie
County offers some striking attractions and scenic drives, with
mountains, lakes, beaches and abundant wildlife making it ideally
suited for an adventurous vacation.
North-west Michigan is a delight at any time of year, but perhaps at
its most picturesque during the honey-colored fall season. With a vast
array of winter sports on offer within easy reach of the town, from
skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing to dog sledding and ice fishing,
and summer pastimes like golf, boating, fishing and bird watching, you
will never be short of things to see and do when you venture out in
Benzie County.
There are ten top Michigan golf courses within 20 miles of Beulah,
including the superb new Arcadia Bluffs public course on the shores of
Lake Michigan, ranked as the best in the state and the second best new
course in the Midwest region*, and two layouts at Crystal Mountain.
On a vacation to northwest Michigan you can take in majestic
lakeside views in a hot air balloon, tour vineyards, bike through lush
forests, observe wildlife, enjoy marshmallow roasts or simply admire
the golden sunsets from great vantage points like Point Betsie
Lighthouse.
Yet Beulah and Benzie County are not just destinations for the
outdoor enthusiast – there are a number of cultural attractions of
note. The Interlochen Arts Center and Benzie Historical Museum are well
worth a visit, with nearby Traverse City also a great place for
family-orientated attractions such as the Annual Cherry Festival, still
going strong after 80 years.
With a vibrant arts scene, including first-rate theatre and music on
offer from the Benzie Area Symphony Orchestra and the Community Chorus,
galleries that showcase local artists, events such as the Shakespeare
Summer Theatre, the Interlochen Summer Concert series, glittering
Fourth of July parades, and weekly concerts in the Park at Crystal Lake
during July and August, visitors to Benzie County can also be royally
entertained. |
